Su Jok is Korean and translates to hand and foot. Profesor Park, Jae Woo's belief is that our creator in his wisdom placed blueprints of the entire body on our hands and feet to enable the body to be treated. Through various methods of stimulation to the corresponding areas on the hand/foot, waves of energy travel back to the lesion area in the affected part of the body which brings about fast pain relief and fuels organs and tissues to return to a healthy state. This means that through simple stimulation between corresponding areas, the body is able to heal itself without drugs or invasive surgery.
From a very young age Professor Park, Jae Woo stated 'thumb is head' and from this philosophy Su Jok materialised.

Within the fingers there are three joints which is akin to the arms where there are also three joints - shoulder, elbow and wrist. The legs also contain three joints, hips, knees and ankles. Looking at the body from the anterior, we can see that our legs are positioned between our arms and the legs are longer than our arms which is again similar to the hands, two shorter fingers occupy the outer position and two longer fingers are positioned between them. Professor Park, Jae Woo came to the conclusion that this was no coincidence, we had come into this world with an innate system of healing and our hands and feet were the manuals to access this system which he named Su Jok.
Su Jok therapy is based on the law of similarity. An example is that if a client has problems in the right foot, using the 'Su Jok Standard System', the distal area of the right middle finger would be probed to find pain spots. Using the 'Su Jok Insect System' if a client presented with stomach problems the middle finger, proximal area of the left hand could be considered for treatment.

Once the treatment area has been established, a treatment plan is compiled which utilises either one or a number of treatment methods.
Methods of treating clients with Su Jok therapy include:
- Acupressure
- Moxa Heat Treatment
- Energy Treatment
- Magnet Therapy
- Seed Therapy
- Needling
- Colour Therapy
- Massage
- etc.etc.
What makes this method of healing so appealing is the rapid relief of pain and symptoms, which can be experienced during the first Su Jok treatment. Also clients are encouraged to take responsibility for their own health as they are usually given some form of natural stimulating device to take away with them. Clients tell us that this approach helps them to feel they are being cared for between treatments which initiates a more positive attitude to their health problems.
